Iraola wants Mac Allister and Alisson to stay at Liverpool

Andoni Iraola has made clear that he wants Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson to remain at Liverpool, despite transfer speculation around both players. He also said the club are more focused on adding players than losing key ones, with defensive depth and right-back cover still a concern because Conor Bradley is months away from returning.

Mac Allister has two years left on his Liverpool deal and there have been no new-contract talks, which is why his future has been discussed. But Iraola described him as one of Liverpool’s best performers over the past few years and said other clubs wanting him is normal when a player is in that form.

Alisson, meanwhile, has one year left on his contract and has been linked with Juventus. Iraola said he is very happy with Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation and stressed that Alisson’s experience is important in a squad that has lost some senior references and now includes newer, younger players.

The bigger picture is that Liverpool appear intent on keeping their core leaders together while they refresh the squad. That is especially relevant with several established figures already leaving or nearing the end of their cycle, so retaining Mac Allister and Alisson would give the team continuity while the rebuild continues.

Iraola also indicated that centre-back and right-back are the main areas he wants to strengthen this summer. With Bradley sidelined and the defensive group described as thin, Liverpool’s transfer plan looks likely to focus more on reinforcements than on cashing in on major names.
