Posted on January 18, 2025

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially signed Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli on a contract that runs until June 2029. The 23-year-old winger, who attracted interest from clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea, requested to leave Napoli after discussions for a contract extension broke down. Although the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, reports suggest that PSG has paid around €70 million (£59 million) plus potential add-ons for his services.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Kvaratskhelia stated, "It's a dream to be here. I've heard so many positive things about PSG." He conveyed his pride in joining the club and looked forward to donning the famous PSG colors. Known for his impressive performances, Kvaratskhelia earned the nickname 'Kvaradona' from Napoli fans during their title-winning campaign, where he played a pivotal role by contributing 54 goals and assists in 107 appearances since joining the club in 2022.

Kvaratskhelia’s arrival marks PSG’s first signing in the January transfer window and makes him the first Georgian player in the club’s history. The club hailed him as one of the most exciting talents in world football, highlighting his ability to fight for the team. As PSG currently sits seven points clear at the top of Ligue 1, Kvaratskhelia will be looking to make an immediate impact as they prepare for upcoming matches, including a crucial Champions League clash against Manchester City.
