Mudryk Appeals Four-Year Doping Ban at CAS

Posted on April 30, 2026, updated on April 30, 2026

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has appealed a four-year Football Association doping ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The 25-year-old Ukrainian has been provisionally suspended since December 2024 after testing positive for meldonium, a substance that boosts stamina, during international duty.

The FA imposed the maximum penalty in June 2025 following charges earlier that year, with the ban backdated to his suspension's start—potentially keeping him out until late 2028. Mudryk, who hasn't played competitively since November 2024, expressed shock at the time and denies knowingly taking banned substances.

CAS confirmed receiving his February 25 appeal, with written submissions ongoing and a hearing pending. His legal team, including Morgan Sports Law (who defended Paul Pogba and others), hopes for a reduced ban or earlier return, possibly next season.

Mudryk trains privately at non-league Uxbridge FC to stay fit. Chelsea and the FA have declined comment on the ongoing case.
