Bayer Leverkusen in Advanced Talks to Sign Jarell Quansah from Liverpool
Posted on June 20, 2025
Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly in advanced negotiations to secure the signing of Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah. The deal comes as the Bundesliga club prepares to finalize a separate but high-profile transfer involving their playmaker, Florian Wirtz, who is set to move to Liverpool for a fee that could reach £100 million. Wirtz arrived in the UK recently to undergo a medical ahead of his transfer.
Quansah, who is valued at around £40 million by Liverpool, has attracted interest from Leverkusen, although the club has historically not paid such high transfer fees. The negotiations for Quansah's transfer are separate from Wirtz's move, which is expected to be completed shortly. The 22-year-old defender has been seen as a promising talent, having made his debut for Liverpool and played a significant role in the previous season.
Having signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool last October, Quansah has expressed a desire to advance his career, suggesting that a move to Leverkusen might be beneficial for his development. He previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bristol Rovers and has made notable appearances for Liverpool, including in key matches.
As Liverpool continues to strengthen its squad with new signings, including Jeremie Frimpong, the potential sale of Quansah could be part of a broader strategy to balance their finances while allowing the young defender to gain more playing time in a competitive environment in Germany.
