PSG Falls to Bayern Munich in 2-1 Defeat
Posted on November 05, 2025
Paris Saint-Germain suffered their first defeat of the Champions League campaign, going down 2-1 to an unbeaten Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes. Luis Díaz was the standout performer for Bayern, scoring both goals before being sent off, highlighting the thrilling and tumultuous nature of the match.
Bayern took an early lead in the 4th minute when Díaz capitalized on a rebound from Michael Olise's shot, slotting the ball home after PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier failed to secure the initial effort. The early goal set the tone for a dominant first half from the German side, as they pressured PSG and limited their chances.
Despite having a goal disallowed for offside by Ousmane Dembélé in the 23rd minute, PSG struggled to make significant inroads against Bayern’s well-organized defense. Dembélé's departure due to injury shortly after added to PSG's woes, as they lost a key attacking player.
Bayern extended their lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute after Marquinhos was dispossessed near his own box, allowing Díaz to finish confidently. However, just before halftime, the dynamic of the match shifted dramatically when Díaz was shown a straight red card for a foul on Achraf Hakimi, who also had to leave the game due to injury.
In the second half, PSG took advantage of their numerical superiority and became more aggressive in their attack. João Neves, who came off the bench, scored a stunning volley in the 74th minute to pull one back for the home side, igniting hopes of a comeback. He nearly equalized shortly after but missed narrowly.
Despite their late efforts, PSG could not find the equalizer, and Bayern held on for the victory, marking their 16th consecutive win this season. The defeat leaves PSG with a need to regroup as they prepare for their upcoming Ligue 1 match against Lyon, hoping to bounce back from this disappointment on the European stage.
As the competition progresses, both teams will be looking to solidify their positions, with Bayern continuing their impressive form and PSG seeking to regain momentum after this setback.
