2026 World Cup Winners to Receive $50 Million Prize

Posted on December 18, 2025

FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 World Cup will take home a record prize of $50 million as part of an overall prize fund of $655 million. This reflects a 50% increase from the $440 million allocated during the last tournament in Qatar in 2022.

The upcoming World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, will feature 48 teams, marking a significant expansion from the previous format of 32 teams.

In the 2022 tournament, the Argentine Football Association earned $42 million after their triumph, while France, the runners-up, secured $30 million. For 2026, the financial rewards have been adjusted: the losing finalists will earn $33 million, third place will net $29 million, and the other semi-finalists will receive $27 million each.

Additionally, teams that do not advance past the group stage will still benefit, receiving $9 million, and each participating nation will also get $1.5 million to assist with preparation costs.

This substantial financial backing from FIFA underscores the growing significance and commercial potential of the World Cup, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
