Napoli Eliminates AC Milan with 2-0 Victory in Supercoppa Semifinals
Posted on December 19, 2025
AC Milan’s defense of the Supercoppa Italiana came to an abrupt end with a 2-0 loss to Napoli in the semifinals at the King Saud University Stadium. Napoli advanced to the final courtesy of goals from David Neres and Rasmus Hojlund, highlighting Milan's defensive frailties.
In a first half that saw both teams create chances, it was Neres who broke the deadlock six minutes before halftime, capitalizing on a mistake from Milan's Koni De Winter and goalkeeper Mike Maignan. Despite Milan's attempts to rally, they struggled to maintain composure under pressure.
The second half continued in a similar vein, with Napoli doubling their lead early on when Hojlund converted a chance after another defensive lapse from Milan. The situation prompted coach Massimiliano Allegri to make changes, but the Rossoneri could not find a way back into the match.
With this defeat, Milan's focus now shifts to Serie A, where questions surrounding their readiness and defensive solidity will only intensify. Allegri will need to address these issues quickly to prevent further setbacks as they aim to regain form and confidence.
