Draymond Green Wins 2025 NBA Hustle Award
Posted on April 26, 2025
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been awarded the 2025 NBA Hustle Award, marking his first time receiving this honor since its inception in 2017. The award recognizes players who consistently make "effort plays" that positively impact their teams, even if those contributions don't show up in traditional box scores.
Throughout the season, the league tracks various "hustle stats" such as deflections, loose balls recovered, and charges taken to evaluate candidates for the award. Green distinguished himself by ranking among the top 40 in all nine hustle categories, despite only being in the top 10 for charges drawn and contested three-point shots. This breadth of performance showcased his all-around hustle and determination on the court.
At 35 years old, Green becomes the oldest player to win the Hustle Award. He has previously finished among the top five in voting for this award, having been a runner-up in both 2017 and 2023. Notably, he is also the second former Defensive Player of the Year to earn the Hustle Award, joining Marcus Smart, who has won it multiple times. This recognition adds to Green's impressive accolades, which include two All-NBA selections and eight All-Defensive Team nods during his 13-season career.
Green's achievement is a testament to his relentless work ethic and commitment to his team, reinforcing his status as a key player for the Warriors as they prepare for the playoffs.
