Liverpool Reaches Verbal Agreement to Sign Jeremy Jacquet for Up to £60 Million

Liverpool has secured a verbal agreement to sign Rennes center-back Jeremy Jacquet for a deal potentially worth £60 million. The 20-year-old defender had also been a target for Chelsea, but he is now set to move to Anfield.

The agreement includes a fixed fee of £55 million, with additional performance-related add-ons of up to £5 million. Ahead of his impending move, Jacquet is due to undergo a medical, with plans for him to be loaned back to Rennes for the remainder of the season.

As Liverpool has been facing challenges in defense, particularly with injuries affecting their squad depth, signing Jacquet is seen as a crucial step for the club. With Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate being their only fit senior center-backs currently, Jacquet's addition could provide much-needed support.

Liverpool's management is optimistic about the long-term prospects of Jacquet, who is deemed to be a promising talent. If all goes to plan, this move could significantly bolster their defensive options as they aim to compete effectively in both domestic and European competitions.
