Grealish Says Foot Recovery Is Progressing Well

Posted on April 29, 2026, updated on April 29, 2026

Jack Grealish says his recovery from foot surgery is going better than expected, with his surgeon pleased by the progress. The Everton loanee had the operation on a stress fracture 10 weeks ago, after the injury ended his season in January.

He described the update as encouraging and said it felt good to hear that everything was “looking any better” at this stage. Grealish has found being sidelined difficult, especially because he misses the day-to-day rhythm of playing football and the atmosphere around big matches.

The 30-year-old made 22 appearances for Everton this season, scoring twice and setting up six goals before injury struck. He also said he had been grateful for the support he has received from Everton’s staff, manager and players during his recovery.

There is still uncertainty over his future, as he has a year left on his Manchester City contract and Everton may consider a permanent move if the fee becomes manageable. For now, though, Grealish appears focused on getting fit and building momentum ahead of next season.

Away from football, he has also extended his role as principal ambassador for Special Olympics Great Britain. He recently welcomed athletes who completed the London Marathon to Hill Dickinson Stadium and spoke warmly about the achievement.

Grealish said the role is personal to him because his younger sister has cerebral palsy, and he wants to use his profile to help others where he can.
