Bayern Open Talks for Newcastle's Anthony Gordon

Posted on May 08, 2026, updated on May 08, 2026

Bayern Munich have opened talks with Newcastle over a potential summer move for Anthony Gordon, and the England winger now looks like one of the most interesting names in the market. Newcastle are willing to hear offers, while Bayern have already made formal contact and are pushing to see whether a deal can be built.

Gordon has four years left on his Newcastle contract, which leaves the Magpies in a strong negotiating position. Even so, there is a growing sense that he may want to explore his options after another strong season, and Newcastle are preparing for that possibility.

The 25-year-old has been one of Newcastle’s most productive players, finishing as their top scorer with 18 goals this season. His form has also attracted attention from other major clubs, including Barcelona and Arsenal, with Bayern now appearing to be the most advanced suitor.

Eddie Howe has made clear that he only wants players who are fully committed to Newcastle. That does not necessarily mean Gordon is pushing to leave, but it does suggest the club are keeping a close eye on attitude as well as transfer speculation.

Bayern’s interest makes sense on footballing grounds too. They are already building an attack with Premier League influence, including Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz, and Gordon would add more pace, flexibility and depth. He is not the most prolific of the group, but he brings energy and versatility that would suit a club looking to stay competitive on multiple fronts.

For Newcastle, the decision may come down to price. Reports suggest they would want a significant fee, with some estimates placing the valuation around £75m to £80m or even more. That would represent a major profit on the £45m they paid Everton in 2023 and could help fund reinvestment elsewhere.

For now, the situation is still at an early stage, but Bayern’s move is serious enough to put Gordon firmly in the spotlight. If Newcastle decide to sell, this could become one of the biggest transfers of the summer.
