Salah Set for Anfield Farewell Return

Liverpool expect Mohamed Salah to play again before he leaves the club at the end of the season. The forward was forced off against Crystal Palace with a suspected hamstring injury, sparking fears it could be his final appearance after nine years and 257 goals at Anfield.
The club have now clarified it is a minor muscle issue, with Salah anticipated to recover in time for at least one of their remaining matches. That offers hope of a proper send-off for the Egyptian, who announced last month he will depart after winning every major honour available.
Salah’s timeline also keeps him on track to captain Egypt at the World Cup this summer. A return against Manchester United on Sunday looks unlikely, but he could feature when Liverpool host Chelsea on 9 May, visit Aston Villa on 17 May, or close the campaign against Brentford at Anfield on 24 May.
The 33-year-old’s departure ends an iconic spell, with only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) ahead of him in Liverpool’s all-time scoring charts. His emotional wave to the Anfield crowd against Palace suggested he feared missing that final moment.
